SWOS tether slings ensure a successful test launch
Space X has been constantly improving on it’s already award winning and revolutionary Falcon 9 rocket, striving for a goal of reusability which would be a first of its kind. To achieve this goal, Space X designed and constructed multiple test stands allowing each rocket produced to undergo extensive quality checks, and eventually allow for testing of previously launched rockets. SWOS partnered with Space X in the development of the hold down system for stage one rocket testing. This allowed Space X to do a full 2.5-minute rocket launch while keeping the unit tethered to earth. For this system, SWOS successfully fabricated 4 slings within 1 inch of the targeted 152ft 8 inches at working load. The outcome of the Falcon 9 test launch was safe and successful with implementation of the high-performance tethering system.
