As the deepest offshore venture in the world, the Stones Development and the FPSO Turritella marked groundbreaking subsea development in the offshore industry.  The Shell Stones Project was an extensive and detailed venture involving a variety of synthetic systems required for the offshore evolution.  This was SBM's first time using a full synthetic rope system for the various rigging aspects of the venture.  To ensure extended durability and maximum performance, SWOS was awarded the contract of designing, testing and constructing the synthetic material to be used on the various rigging platforms.  Through expert knowledge and technical experience, SWOS and Samson designed, rigorously tested, and built a tapered buoy pickup, winch, buoyancy messenger lines, and two Vectran® riser pull-in lines of 435 meters in length.
